Lab #1: Critique of Previous Portfolios and a Little About Me
Ryan Ferguson Portfolio: Ryan had a very organized blog which had his main posts directly in the center of the page. He also had a nice recent posts section and a archive on the right hand side of the blog. It is a very basic blog, but does what is intended.
Todd Horn Portfolio: Todd has a visually pleasing front page with a convenient top bar that has all his pages. He also included his archives which is very helpful.
Ian Wiley Portfolio: Ian has a large in your face blog that shows large images of his posts that then can be clocked on to go into further detail. Visually good to look at, but lacks some structure.
Lucas Wright Portfolio: Lucas has a very basic layout that allows you to dive right into his adventures. His basic links are right there in your face under the title and allow you to go where you need to go. It does lack a overview, but makes up for it with a very nice archive.
Connor Yoder Portfolio: This is the most basic blog I've seen so far, it is just black and bare and hard to navigate. It has all the basic necessities, but lacks visuals and atmosphere.
Summary: I intend to take some ideas from these previous portfolio's I looked at and add my own personality to it. I want to make my blog easy to navigate, visually pleasing, and draw people in .
About Me:
My Background in UAS: I am a Junior at Purdue in the UAS major. I have been flying and following the UAS industry for a couple years now. This has allowed me to get experience in both flying and learning the industry and regulations regarding UAS.
Interest in UAS: My interest in UAS came from my father who has been a drone hobbyist for years now. Back in the day my Dad would fly and take pictures as I watched in amazement. As the years went on I forgot about UAS, until I got to Purdue. I saw that Purdue was offering a UAS major and I was instantly intrigues and pursued it.
Future Career in UAS: Honestly I would love to do almost anything regarding UAS if it pays well. Since the industry is so new there are very little jobs at the moment, but only grow and grow as time goes on. I am not certain on what I want to pursue, but I will know when I see it.
